The Act of Unforgiving™

A Two-Session Therapeutic Process for Reclaiming Psychological Sovereignty

The Act of Unforgiving™ is an original therapeutic framework developed by psychotherapist Deirdre Rolfe that addresses one of the most difficult aspects of trauma recovery: the psychological attachment that can remain between a survivor and the person who caused the harm.

Many individuals are encouraged to forgive in order to move forward. While forgiveness can be meaningful for some people, it is not always the most appropriate or accessible pathway to healing. In situations where harm was profound, unresolved, or never acknowledged, individuals can remain emotionally bound to perpetrators through unresolved anger, grief, obligation, or the internalised demand to reconcile.

The Act of Unforgiving™ introduces a different psychological pathway. Rather than focusing on reconciliation, it focuses on truth recognition, personal authority, and the conscious withdrawal of emotional allegiance from those who violated trust or safety.

This process combines existential psychology, trauma-informed therapeutic practice, somatic awareness, and structured symbolic action to help individuals release persistent emotional attachments and reclaim their psychological agency.

The workshop is designed as a two-session process that allows participants to move through both understanding and embodied integration.

Session One

Understanding and Witnessing the Injury

The first session focuses on clearly identifying and articulating the psychological injury.

Participants are guided through a structured conversation that allows them to:

• describe the events that created the unresolved attachment
• be witnessed in the psychological, emotional, and existential impact of the harm
• examine how unresolved relationships continue to affect thoughts, behaviours, and emotional responses
• understand the principles behind the Act of Unforgiving™ process

This session creates the foundation for the second stage of the work.

Session Two

The Act of Unforgiving™ Ritual Process

The second session focuses on a guided therapeutic process designed to help individuals actively reclaim their emotional authority.

This involves a structured and embodied exercise that allows participants to:

• externalise unresolved emotional attachments
• withdraw psychological allegiance from the perpetrator
• reclaim personal power and narrative authority
• create a clear psychological boundary between past harm and present identity

Participants are then encouraged to repeat the process independently as a personal integration practice.

The Therapeutic Approach

The Act of Unforgiving™ process is:

• trauma informed
• somatically integrated
• grounded in psychological and neurobiological principles
• structured as an active rather than purely reflective intervention

By engaging both cognitive insight and embodied action, the process can help individuals release longstanding patterns of emotional entanglement that may have persisted for years.

Trauma Bond Recovery

Breaking the Attachment Cycle

Trauma bonds are powerful psychological attachments that can develop in relationships where emotional harm and intermittent care become intertwined. These bonds can make separation from unhealthy relationships extremely difficult, even when individuals clearly recognise that the relationship is harmful.

This workshop explores the psychological mechanisms that create and sustain trauma bonded relationships. It integrates attachment theory, trauma psychology, and evidence based therapeutic techniques to help individuals understand why these bonds form and how they can be disrupted.

Participants are guided through a structured process that examines the emotional and cognitive patterns that maintain attachment to harmful or manipulative individuals. Understanding these patterns allows individuals to begin separating emotionally while strengthening personal agency and psychological stability.

The workshop also introduces targeted techniques designed to support emotional processing and reduce the intensity of trauma related memory activation. These methods can help the nervous system begin to reorganise its response to past relational experiences, allowing individuals to move toward greater clarity and autonomy.

What This Workshop Explores

Participants will gain insight into:

• how trauma bonds develop within attachment based relationships
• why harmful relationships can feel psychologically compelling or difficult to leave
• how intermittent reinforcement strengthens emotional attachment
• how early relational patterns can influence adult relationship dynamics
• strategies that help weaken trauma bonded attachments and restore personal clarity

The goal of the workshop is to help individuals understand the psychological mechanisms behind trauma bonding and begin the process of reclaiming emotional independence.

Therapeutic Approach

This workshop integrates principles from:

• attachment theory
• trauma informed psychotherapy
• cognitive and emotional processing techniques
• structured therapeutic interventions designed to reduce emotional reactivity

By combining psychological insight with targeted techniques, the process helps individuals begin separating from patterns that may have remained entrenched for extended periods of time.

Workshop Format

Sessions are 90 minutes in duration.

Delivery:
Online or in person

Participants may choose either:

Single session workshop — $225

or

Two session deep exploration — $450

The extended format allows for deeper exploration and integration of the concepts introduced.

ARCHETYPEIMAGEWEBSITE

Archetype Assessment Workshop

Understanding Your Core Psychological Archetypes

Human behaviour is often shaped by underlying psychological patterns that influence how individuals think, respond, and relate to others. In depth psychology, these patterns are frequently described as archetypes, universal psychological structures that shape identity, motivation, and emotional response.

The Archetype Assessment Workshop introduces participants to a structured exploration of their three primary psychological archetypes. These archetypes influence both adaptive strengths and potential blind spots that may affect decision making, relationships, and personal development.

Drawing on Jungian depth psychology and shadow work, this workshop helps individuals examine both the constructive and maladaptive expressions of their archetypal patterns.

The goal is not simply to categorise personality traits, but to provide deeper psychological insight into how these patterns operate and how they can be consciously integrated.

What This Workshop Explores

Participants will explore:

• their three dominant psychological archetypes
• how these archetypes influence behaviour and identity
• the constructive or adaptive qualities of each archetype
• shadow expressions that may create difficulty or limitation
• how unconscious archetypal patterns can influence relationships and life choices

Through guided discussion and reflection, participants begin to understand how these psychological patterns operate in everyday life.

Depth Psychology and Shadow Exploration

The workshop includes a series of reflective questions derived from Jungian shadow work, designed to help individuals examine aspects of their archetypal patterns that may remain unconscious.

This process encourages participants to:

• recognise hidden motivations and internal conflicts
• understand recurring behavioural patterns
• identify areas where growth and integration may be beneficial

By bringing these dynamics into conscious awareness, individuals can begin to relate to their archetypal patterns with greater clarity and intentionality.

A Tool for Psychological Insight

The Archetype Assessment Workshop offers a structured way to examine the internal patterns that shape behaviour and perception.

Participants often gain insight into:

• areas where they are naturally thriving
• patterns that may contribute to emotional or relational difficulty
• opportunities for personal development and integration

The aim of the workshop is to provide a deeper understanding of the psychological structures that influence identity and behaviour.

The Living Senses™

A Course in Presence, Perception, and the Art of Fully Experiencing Life

Created by
Deirdre Rolfe
Counsellor On Call

The Living Senses™

In modern life we move quickly from one task to the next. Phones, screens, schedules, and constant information compete for our attention.

In the process many people lose contact with the most powerful tools they possess: their senses.

We see without truly observing.
We hear without deeply listening.
We eat without tasting.
We move without feeling our bodies.

The Living Senses™ is a guided journey back into presence.

This course helps participants slow down and rediscover the richness of everyday experience through deliberate awareness of sight, sound, touch, taste, smell, and inner sensing.

When we reconnect with our senses something remarkable happens.

Life becomes deeper.
Emotions become clearer.
The nervous system begins to settle.
Intuition becomes stronger.
Ordinary moments become meaningful again.

The Living Senses™ is both simple and profound. It invites participants to return to the natural intelligence of the body and rediscover how much beauty and meaning already exists in daily life.

The Philosophy Behind The Living Senses™

Existential psychology teaches that meaning is not found through constant activity or productivity but through conscious engagement with life itself.

Presence is not doing nothing.

Presence means observing.
Listening.
Feeling.
Participating in the world with awareness.

This course draws from depth psychology, mindfulness, somatic awareness, and simple neuroscience to show how engaging the senses can calm the nervous system, deepen emotional insight, and restore a feeling of connection with life.

The goal is not to add more to your schedule.

The goal is to experience the life you already have more deeply.

The Living Senses Model

The course explores six dimensions of experience.

Seeing
Hearing
Touch
Taste
Smell
Inner sensing

Each sense becomes a doorway into deeper awareness.

Participants move through four stages of perception.

Observation
Embodiment
Meaning
Intuition

First we notice.

Then we feel the experience in the body.

Then we understand what it means emotionally.

Finally we begin to recognise patterns and insight.

This is where intuition naturally develops.

Who This Course Is For

The Living Senses™ is ideal for people who want to
